European Debate Watch Party

Updated: Feb 14, 2019

The curiosity is on you, the pizza is on us!

European elections season is starting soon and following policy debates should be on everyone’s mind … and playlists!

EucA member Halls of Residence are invited to organise debate watch parties: students will be able to follow online on Facebook the 3 debates that will take place in Brussels on 20 February 2019 as part of our project on the future of Europe, Message to Europeans 3.0.

At the end of each debate online participants can choose the team with the most convincing arguments.

You will know some of the debaters, perhaps some of them are your College friends... if not, there is pizza to comfort you!

The 3 motions debated:

15:30 - 16:00 Debate 1

Motion: This generation believes the way forward for the future of Europe is to abandon identity politics.

16:15 - 16:45 Debate 2

Motion: This generation believes that without external powerful threats, the political leadership will not initiate a reform of the current (and broken) European social contract and protectionism will prevail on the creative destruction needed for systemic reform.

16:45 - 17:15 Debate 3:

Motion: The generation believes that citizen’s disillusionment with the EU is caused by a lack of political accountability of the EU.

How can you organise this:

1. You will have to follow online at least 1 of the 3 debates

2. Let us know in advance your plans sending by 6pm on Tuesday, 19 February :

- The name of your College

- How many people you expect

3. You will need to show proof of your group following the debate:

- the group will need post at least 3 different group pictures on social media tagging the project (find our Social Media channels below) and with the hashtag

# Pizza4Europeans (ideally, 1 post should be from the social media account of your College)

- commenting during the Facebook live streaming: do not forget to add from what College you are following the debate & remember that intelligent & polite remarks are always the best ;)

- participate in the online vote (at the end of each debate)

4. For us to reimburse your pizza order, please keep in mind:

- make sure you have the proof from point 3 (we will check!)

- order the pizza for the party for a coherent number of people who are following the debate (if you send us a picture of 5 people, it’s difficult to justify a pizza order for 15 people); we trust you, so please don’t take advantage of that!

- only the pizza costs are covered (drinks or any other food/beverage is not reimbursed)

- send us via email the receipt at brussels.office@euca.eu with the bank details where you want to receive the reimbursement. We will refund in max. 3 days.

Please note that only EucA members are eligible.
